Bathtub refinishing, also known as bathtub reglazing and bathtub resurfacing all have the same meaning of making a bathtub look new. If properly cleaned and the correct bonding primer used the finished product will last long and stay looking new with the proper maintenance. There are three main reasons to have your bathtub reglazed: the bathtub is in good shape but it is pink, red, purple, green, yellow, or any other color; it has rust, chips, or is dull; it has been resurfaced improperly and it is peeling. To reglaze any of these bathtubs requires anywhere from 3-5 hours. Mask off all of the appropriate areas before reglazing. If the bathtub needs stripped of the old resurfaced material or repairs must be made before the bathtub is cleaned. The bathtub must be properly cleaned and etched. A proprietary bonding primer must be applied, and three coats of of the selected color for the bathtub will be applied with a sprayer to get a smooth, shiny finish. Unmask the bathroom and present the finished product to the owners. The bathtub can not get wet for 48 hours for it to be fully-cured.
